We had budgeted 5 days to complete our mission and we had 3 days booked for sure with 2 possible day ready if we needed them. We went up to the grounds for day 4 and would call it a trip now that we had the spear caught. On our first set of baits in the morning we found that the current was pushing hard straight in. It was really hard to keep the bait off the ledge. I got out to 200 fathoms and we got bit. We fought the marlin for about 10 minutes on 50 pound test and found ourselves on the ledge. Oskie got the leader one time and had to let go due to the fish acting really weird. It turned out the sharks were chasing the marlin and cut the line when one ran into the line. Pam can count that one as a catch but unfortunately for us it didn’t go into the catch column. Because the current was so strange the fish didn’t bite for us in the afternoon. We got a few mahi on our baits but didn’t get a blue in the afternoon. Our friend Bronsen Cablay caught this nice blue next to us so we got to see the show.
