Today we started out front and worked our way to the grounds where we started their trip. It was a slow morning so I worked my way south on the outside down to Kaiwi and the VV buoy area. We found the current to be slow and barely moving. When I decided to try to find some current somewhere we raised a really nice fish on the right teaser. She came up and really tried the teaser. I kept the teaser away from her and the switch was on the way. She chased the teaser right under the boat and we expected a going away bite on the lure Oskie had on the 2nd wave. She disappeared for a second and popped up on the lure. She was all over it but just could catch it. She then dropped back and tried a little lure we had on the short rigger for spears. The lure washed across forehead bouncing out her eating it. It looked like she was getting tired so I slowed down so she could get the lure. Unfortunately she slowed down as well. I speeded up but had her fade off. My gamble to slow down didn’t pay off again. It works so well so much of the time I thought it would help this time but she swam away. The day was uneventful until the end of the day when we raised big spear and got it hooked long enough to get it to the chair. This one came off too! We had 3 more stripeys come up and missed them all. Tomorrow is another day.
