Tim Thomasson came to fish with Rob and I for 4 days. We fished for big fish the whole time which here in Kona can be a bit of a wait. We put our time in and the odd big one being seen and caught kept our attention. The porpoise pods were loading up with fish finally. Boats were getting action, catching between 1 and 3 a day. We were feeling it a little because the tuna finally came and we were trophy hunting. Tim has fished all over the world and really want to try for a big one so we stuck with it. The porpoise came close to us and they were really biting so Tim said we could try to catch one. Rob started clearing the lines when a big hole in the water on the long rigger appeared. The black Polu Kai Tube again!
It was her the one we were waiting for. She was a nice fish and put on a great show. It turned out to be worth the wait and we never did end up seeing the tuna. Oh well. Rob did great on the leader. The fish was strong and really gave him a good pull.
