Big Billy

Today we got this nice Billy. We ended up get him late in the morning because we had to have our hunters get on a plane when they realized they were on the wrong island. They drove to the airport and flew to Kona where we met and went down to hunt goats. The timing worked out good and this dandy was waiting for us.

Jeff Street Almost Gets the Big Island Slam

Jeff and I had a great time here hunting almost everything we have here. We had good luck on the goats getting spanish and a hawaiian Ibex. The next day we got a turkey in the morning and we got a sheep late in the afternoon. The fog moved in and I got lost out there for awhile. It was humbling to be so close to the truck and not be able to see it in the thick fog. We found it but it was frustrating for awhile. Jeff was patient and we got back. We will have to get the boar next time.

Girls Day

Today we went out to try to catch gabby a stripey or a spearfish and had great luck. Uncle Pononui and Gabby’s friend Zane joined us. We caught zane a nice mahi and we had a bunch of little big eyes to eat. Gabby had a big spearfish right to the leader and it came off. She did a great job it just came off.

Here comes the Rain

The rains are here. After a severe drought we finally are getting some rain. The leases look good again. It is the first time I am not grumbling for getting wet out there. The animals are going to be ok now. It is green again finally! Hunting has been tough because it is so green the animals patterns have changed and they are hard to see.

Jamie Spears Gets em

Jamie Spears and his wife Ann came to visit us again this year. Jamie and good friend Kent Kelly came to hunt and fish with us a couple years ago. They invited Pat Fisher of Hawaii Safaris and I to hunt at Kent’s ranch for elk and we both got real nice bulls. It was good to see Jamie again and was good he timed the fishing right. We caught this nice ahi in the south school after we tagged this spearfish. It was nice of him to sit still. The next shot is funny of him jumping in the water.
