Flags fly At half rigger to honor the recent passing of veteran Captain John Lanes Sr. It is a great loss to the Kona fleet. The patriarch of the well known Llanes family , Llanes fished the Kona coast most of his life fishing with many of the legends of charter fishing here in Kona. Fishing as a mate and captain at the beginning of the charter fishing here he saw the fishing evolve from the beginning. He ran a very successful charter business which his son Randy now runs on the Sundowner. He was a good friend to me and my dad Kent and always was happy and friendly with everyone he came in contact with. We will really miss Uncle John. We send our aloha to the entire Llanes family for the loss. Services will be held on March 3rd.
