Today we started off with this big Kahala then headed off shore to troll. We had a fish come up short and Mat switched the fish to a live bait. The fish took the bait and took off. The line went up the starboard side as line pealed off the reel. I headed towards the line to start to turn and chase on the fish when Mat said, “Look out its right there!” I looked to the starboard where the line was and the fish slammed in to us on the port in 30 seconds time. I looked over the port side and the fish floated dead down the side of the boat. We wound the line in while slack as the belly came to us. We watched as the line came clean and tight to the fish. In 2 minutes total fighting time Mat and I pulled the fish through the door stone dead. It was a shame it died. There was no damage to the boat. It was a surprise to us from the sound it made when it hit the boat. We are lucky no one got hurt. We worked the area and caught this 110 ahi to cap off a great day. The Marlin weighed 338 and was donated to an up coming luau.
