We fished the little one fishing tournament this week and had a tough time for the first time all year. It has been a great year for us this having consistent fishing from Jan until now. This last 4 days the fishing got tough for us. I fished the bait balls and Aku (skip Jack) hopeing that the Marlin found the bait and would start biting. It is easy to start chasing the radio and going where the last bite was but I tried to work at doing our own thing and it didn’t work out this time. We focused on the rules of fishing and it seems it was a little early for them to pay off. The signs are there so they are soon to work! The tuna have come in this week and I was tempted to tuna fish but tried for Marlin where most of the points were for our anglers. We live baited the grounds which on day 3 looked unreal. We caught a couple of nice Mahis but no marlin. We are on the verge of the fishing getting good. Good tuna reports are coming in with friends of mine catching good numbers. It was hard to stay focused on the target species Blue Marlin but we did. The fishing ended up slow for marlin this week so we didn’t catch a Marlin for the guys. I am so driven for results that I really felt it the last few days. The tournament had 3 blues caught in the 4 days of fishing by 9 boats. The highlight was the Buana with Capt Teddy Hooges releasing a blue that was over 900 pounds. Chip Van Mols had a great day on Day One with 2 blues and a spear. It is exciting to see the bait and big tuna coming. We look forward to getting on them in a couple of days.. I
